I document here all the lessons I've learned in the sport hoping it will help other newbies. ü
racing
1. PRAY BEFORE RACING. It will relax you.
2. Remember what you are doing this race for.
3. Dedicate a race to someone and tell him/her about it. It will give you an extra boost of strength thinking that you do not want to let the person down.
4. Never do something new on the day of the race
5. Never eat energy gel and drink Gatorade before the race especially when you have already eaten breakfast before a triathlon race. It will make you feel bloated during the swim.
6. Always bring enough extra energy gels and salt tablets during the race. It might save you and another athlete as well.
7. Always bring water to the shore of the swim start. The wait will be thirsty. And you may want to take a sip after your warm up swim.
8. Train your bike to run transition. This is the part of the race that will hurt the most.
9. Be aware of the cameras. Try not to look too tired when you see them. Believe me, it is worth it.
10. If someone is ahead of you near the finish line and you are less than 100 meters away from them, do not ever try to go ahead of him/her. Let him/her finish with dignity. Let him/her have that finish line victory moment. Please.
11. ALWAYS SMILE AT THE FINISH LINE.
