I’m not into the whole gown and suit and tie, formal dramatic extravaganza with fierce emote-emote supermodel poses and wind in my hair effect that seem to be the trend in prenup photoshoots nowadays. I just wanted something chill and very laid back that will allow me and Doods to smile a lot and make landian a little (ok fine, a lot!). Luckily, my research led me to JC Intal and Bianca Gonzalez’s engagement shoots. They were wearing pambahay/pantulog but still managed to look good and happy in the photos. I fell in love with the idea immediately.
So Doods and I decided to do the prenup in a hotel. We booked a one-bedroom suite in Oakwood Ortigas because of it’s homey interiors. Parang bahay-bahayan lang. Naswertehan ko pa na corner room ang nakuha kaya has madaming windows. I called Ms. Suzette of Awesome Events by Mark to schedule the prenup. I bought an XL white polo while Doods bought fitting white and grey shirts and sando and pyjamas. I had my nails painted black because amidst all the whites, I wanted my hand and the engagement ring to stand out. With the J.CO donuts and Pizza Hut as props, we are ready to go!
I have to admit, I was a bit nervous with the shoot. Di ko alam if kaya ko ba i-pull-off ang mga gantong photoshoot. Hindi kasi sya uso at baka mas comfortable ang crew sa mga usong may gown at outdoor and amazing view na peg. Tapos, I don’t know who the HMUA, videographer and photographer are. As in makikilala ko pa lang sila on the day of the shoot. But thank God napunta saken yung masasaya kasama. The amazing Ms. Rhona was able to give me the I-woke-up-like-this look while the Sir Pepe (photo) and Sir Pau (vid) were so kalog and comfortable to be with. Hanggang ngayon, nagsisisi pa rin ako na hindi kami nakapag-inuman (sa kasal na lang!). The experience was so unique. I was expecting awkward shots and weird poses but everything felt natural. Parang natural pa din lahat ng forehead-to-forehead, nose-to-nose, fake tawanan at fake kwentuhan. At nag-enjoy pa ko kumain ng pizza at donut at uminom ng mainit na invisible coffee. There are shots that I’ve never seen before. :)
All-in-all, the prenup was a great experience that allowed me to bond with Doods. At in fairness, was gumwapo sya sa paningin ko (naks! I love you Doods!). Ang dami kong worries pero in the end, I am reminded that I just have to follow my guts, trust the suppliers and happy-happy lang. :)
